Accountant

Job description

🌍 We’re making security suck less for developers.

Security tools haven’t kept up with how software is built today. They interrupt teams, slow releases, and turn security into a bottleneck instead of a capability. We built Aikido to change that. Aikido builds developer-first security products that reduce real risk without getting in the way of shipping software. We focus on what actually matters and automate the rest.

We’re taking on legacy security tools teams have been stuck with, and we’re winning. If you want to help us take market share and build products developers actually enjoy using, you’re in the right place.

Founded in 2022 by third-time founders, Aikido has $85M in the bank and a long runway ahead. We’re building toward self-securing software. Join an all-star team. Take real ownership. Push boundaries. Build things that matter.

We're hiring a US Accountant to own day-to-day accounting for our US entity as we build a public-company-ready finance function. You'll run the US close, keep the books audit-ready under US GAAP, and help put the controls and reporting in place that an IPO requires.

Responsibilities:

• Run the monthly and quarterly close for the US entity: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations

• Account for SaaS subscription revenue under ASC 606, including deferred revenue and contract review with the revenue team

• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations with our Belgian parent, and support US GAAP to IFRS reporting for group consolidation

• Own US payables and receivables processes, vendor setup, 1099 reporting and sales tax filings, working with outside advisors

• Document processes and run internal controls as we build toward SOX compliance

• Prepare schedules and answer requests for the annual audit and quarterly reviews

• Help roll out our new ERP and automate manual steps in the close

• Support FP&A with clean actuals and variance explanations

Job requirements

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, split across Big 4 audit and/or in-house roles

• Public company experience: SEC registrant in-house, or auditing SEC registrants

• Experience in tech or SaaS, including subscription revenue under ASC 606

• Solid US GAAP knowledge and hands-on month-end close experience

• Working knowledge of SOX controls and documentation

• Strong Excel skills and comfort working in an ERP

• Clear written communication; you'll work daily with a team in Belgium

Bonus if you have:

• CPA, or working toward it

• IPO readiness or first-year SOX experience

• Multi-entity accounting with a foreign parent, intercompany and FX

• Exposure to IFRS

• ERP implementation experience (e.g. NetSuite) and billing tools such as Stripe

• Cybersecurity or developer-tools industry background

What you can expect:

• Build the US accounting function early, with real ownership from day one

• Get hands-on IPO readiness work: SOX, audit, ERP and technical accounting

• Small, senior finance team where your work reaches the CFO directly

• Fast-growing security company with teams in Belgium and the US

• Short decision lines. Big ownership. Shape the projects that matter and ship fast.

• Grow as fast as we do. Take on more, own more, and carve out your own path.

• Top-tier tech pay and equity.

• High trust, strong values, zero corporate BS.

• Flexibility in working hours.

• A company that sticks to its values in an open and informal atmosphere.

We hire for talent, drive, and potential. Everything else is noise.
